Seeking Transparency through the Complexities of a Corn Allergy.

The Corn Maze

The parallels between navigating a corn allergy and weaving through a farm field maze of corn did not escape my attention. You’re hard pressed to find a direct route that leads to any place of certainty.

My hopes in creating this website is to shed some light or some clear path as I share my story and insight regarding living corn free. As a mother and a consumer, I know I keep good company with those who would like to see more transparency in the labeling of our foods, especially when it comes to corn. Until that happens, it is the online community that offers invaluable information. I’d like to add to that collection and share what I have learned and continue to discover as my daughter and I strive to live our life corn free- if that is even possible in this country!

There are so many aspects to living corn free. It can be very overwhelming when you suddenly discover you need to change your eating habits effective immediately. As other parents and individuals on the internet point out, you are not alone! With time, education, awareness and acceptance, you may find not only is it possible to adjust your diet accordingly, but you may actually be grateful for the opportunity towards a healthier lifestyle.

I am not a doctor, allergist or nutritionist by trade. I am an informed, aware mother that isn’t afraid of asking questions no matter how disheartening the answer may be. When it comes to food in this country, the truth is disheartening at best.

It is my vision to share the Truth. The truth about corn as an allergen, as a genetically modified crop, as big business, and as it desperately needs transparency on our food labels.

To Understand Corn is to Know GMO!

Ultimately, my goal in creating this blog, is to increase awareness around the vast use of corn in our food, beauty products and environmental products; and even more importantly, have it become more commonly recognized as an allergen.
